Kevin and I

Where do I begin with this one:

I guess it all starts with working at Woolworths. This is where we meet. I am a little older than Kevin and for awhile I never knew how Kevin felt about me until I got his letter. But by that time, I was dating a person (on and off). The last time we were on, I found out I was pregnant. I really was confused but knew that I was going to have and keep the baby.

I remember to this day telling Kevin that I was pregnant, only because I knew how he felt about me and I didn't want to break his heart. But that was not what happened after telling him. Kevin seemed to become more a just a work friend. Telling the other guy I was pregnant made our relationship go "off" again. And that was okay with me.

Having problems and complications with my pregnancy, Kevin would stop by and see how I was doing. Bringing me flowers, cards, and most importantly just himself and we would talk. Slowly Kevin became more than a friend. We would start dating while I was pregnant and I would meet his family (another story for another post, lol). And he would become an important part of my life. Kevin started going on doctor appointments with me and going to the ultrasounds. He even went to Lamaze class with me. Our daughter was born on 16 October, and Kevin was the first one to hold her. He proposed to me on Halloween Day. Even though I accepted we waited awhile to tell our families. We wanted to make sure that everyone on both sides knew we were together, and that we were very serious about each other even with the new baby.

We told his family that we were engaged in Febuary. We told them then that Kevin was going to join the Army in March and then we preceeded to tell them that we were to be married about 3 days before he left for Basic. Yeah, I can so understand how upset they were that day.

We were married in March. Kevin did leave for basic Training for the Army 3 days later.

There are times when some men don't want to be a father. But it really is something different and special in a person when they become a parent to your child especially at the age of 18 (this is the age Kevin was when we married) to a child that is not theirs.

This is what made me love him even more. Now 15 1/2 years later, we are still in the Army, we now have 2 more daughters, and more in love today than the day we married. I am not saying our marriage has been perfect or easy. We have had our ups and downs. We have had our disagreements, our hurts, our cries, our rethinkings, but through all of it we realized we love each other. And being married to each other is where we want to be. We both joke with each other that the reason why God created us was because he knew that nobody else could handle the other.

In sickness, and health; In good times and bad.....
